If you’ve ever wanted to see a Romanian elopement, this one’s for you! Seba and Ioana are good friends of ours. Since Seba is from Denmark, and Ioana is from Romania, we’ve been dreaming of this trip for years. Finally, this past year we made it happen!
We flew from Copenhagen to Bucharest and rented a car. We spent two weeks driving around different parts of Romania. It is definitely an underrated country. Romania is full of beautiful landscapes and Carpathian mountains. The country has glacier caves, dramatic cliffs, and rocky gorges. It is also home to Dracula’s castle in Transylvania. Our group had so much fun exploring the whole country! We already have a list of places to explore on our next trip.
We also managed to venture up to Lac Bâlea for a day trip, which is located in the middle of Romania. As a group, we took some photos at the top to inspire other couples to elope here. As we were ahead of the tourist season, we had the whole place to ourselves. The temperatures were much colder than the lower altitudes we were used to. And so we definitely got a taste of winter again.
ADVICE FOR A ROMANIA ELOPEMENT
If you’re considering eloping in Bâlea Lac, or anywhere else in Transylvania, there are a few things to consider:
-choose your wedding date and season based on the experience you want to have. The lake is beautiful in a winter landscape, but it’s not the easiest to walk around. Consider if this is the experience you want on your wedding day, for you or your guests, and bring appropriate clothing/footwear!
-make sure the legalities are sorted out beforehand. Depending on where you are from, it’s always good to arrange a marriage license ahead of time.
-give yourselves extra time to explore. The whole region of Transylvania is so beautiful! Because it is so vast and diverse, give yourselves plenty of time to see it all.
All in all, this Romania elopement inspiration session proved to be one of the most beautiful I’ve photographed to date. Scroll down and enjoy! And last thing, if you’re looking for a photographer to capture your own Romania elopement, definitely get in touch! I love working with international couples and would be honoured to join you!
