Madeline and Alex | Ottawa Horticulture Building wedding in the heart of the city

Best Ottawa wedding photographer

Madeline and Alex had one of the most personalized weddings I’ve ever seen! Since they are both big fans (and students) of English literature, they incorporated their love of books into their wedding. The centrepieces were stacks of classic books with bouquets on top. They had deep burgundy tones set as their wedding colour, with gold accents. It was truly spectacular!

Since Alex has a deep love for music and plays in a band, they also incorporated lots of musical details in their decor. For example, their wedding favours were a mix-tape of songs (displaying their engagement photos as the cover). Alex even wore cassette tape cufflinks with his suit! It was one of the most thought-out and personalized weddings of the season!

Bride And Groom Kissing In Front Of The Guests

The day of the wedding itself was an adventure! Unbeknownst to us, the wedding happened on the same day as the infamous tornado that tore through Ottawa. Although the tornado did a lot of damage, Madeline and Alex (and their wedding) were completely safe! We did, however, encounter some power issues (and slight flooding) from the aftermath of the tornado. But in the end, it was the most incredible day ever!

So scroll down to see a snippet of their beautiful wedding day! If you’re considering getting married at the Horticulture Building, I would highly recommend it. It is the perfect downtown Ottawa venue, if you’re looking for urban industrial vibes. Hope you enjoy their gallery, and feel free to get in touch if you’d like me to photograph your wedding at the Horticulture Building!

I am always into when couples make their special day uniquely theirs. The fact that they implemented so many fun ideas and events really made their wedding beautiful! The horticulture building is such a neat space for an intimate wedding as well.

I adore the photo of the book with the engagement ring, and the close up of the bride wearing her bracelets. What beautiful, delicate details. This whole day was quirky and lovely, I loved it! Beautifully documented 🙂
