Diane and Sam | An Orange Art Gallery Wedding in the heart of Ottawa

Ottawa Weddings and Elopements

Diane and Sam’s Orange Art Gallery wedding was nothing short of amazing. They opted for an intimate cocktail-style wedding with a small guest list, perfect for the venue size. This gave them the flexibility to craft a timeline that felt very relaxed throughout the whole day, and suited them perfectly as a couple.

Their wedding day started with Diane getting ready with some family and friends at her parents’ house. Her mother helped her get dressed and pick out her earrings. After a glass of champagne, we drove over to Ottawa’s Dominium Arboretum to meet with Sam for their first look. We found a small clearing amongst the trees that was the perfect spot. Once Diane and Sam had a few minutes together, we walked around the Arboretum and found the perfect spot to take more photos.

Diane and Sam prepared letters ahead of time and read them to one another. I always LOVE when couples choose to do this because it really has so many benefits. It gives them an opportunity to express how they’re feeling on their wedding day, without any pressure of reading them in front of other people. This is often very emotional, and it creates incredibly powerful photos!

After reading their letters, we took some family photos in the Arboretum. We then drove off to Orange Art Gallery for the late afternoon wedding ceremony! The gallery is one of my favourite Ottawa wedding venues. It’s the perfect setting for intimate weddings and smaller groups of people, and has such a unique feel to it. Although it’s not set up for large wedding guest lists or sit-down dinner receptions, it’s great if you’re having a cocktail reception (without assigned seating). It also facilitates a great atmosphere for your guests to mingle! It’s really so perfect.

Let me know! I’d love to help you plan your day out, and I can give great tips on things to consider like:

-the time of year when the gallery has the best lighting (because I know from experience!)

-how many guests would be ideal for the space (because this is important to know)

-great catering companies that would work well for a cocktail-style reception (because not every company can work ideally within this space)
