Islington Town Hall Wedding

Shreyas and Katie

London, UK

As a destination wedding photographer, it’s not often I get to partake in wedding days as a guest. But when two of your best friends have an Islington Town Hall wedding, you better believe I’d fly across the world for them – both as their friend, and wedding photographer. I’ve known Shrey for my entire adulthood, and he’s truly one of my best friends. And while I’ve only known Katie for the past couple of years, she quickly became someone I love, admire, and appreciate. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the two of them get married.

fun fact:

Did you know this wedding was published in the European Elopement Guide? Check out their beautiful feature in the blog here.

A destination wedding in London, UK

So funny story: this was actually Shreyas and Katie’s second wedding (to each other). Their first wedding took place in India a few months prior. They had a beautiful destination wedding at the Radisson Blu Resort in Temple Bay, Mamallapuram. Since they are an international couple, they decided to host a second celebration in London, UK. This way, family and friends from all around the world could choose which celebration to attend! Or attend both, of course.

Portraits in London, UK

The morning of their London wedding, they got ready together in their flat. We decided to do some portraits of them in their traditional Indian wedding outfits, before switching into their London wedding outfits. We wandered the streets of Islington, stopping at Canonbury Square Garden and the New River Walk. As luck would have it, the cherry blossoms were also in full bloom so we were able to get some photos with the blooms!

Pints at the Pub in London, UK

After a pit stop back at their flat to do a quick outfit change, we headed to the Myddleton Arms pub for some pints with Shrey’s crew. After some drinks and tequila shots, we met up with Katie and the bridesmaids and made our way over to Islington Town Hall.

The Islington Town Hall Wedding Ceremony

Since Shreyas and Katie live in Islington, it made sense for them to hold their wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall. For those who haven’t been, Islington Town Hall is an iconic building. With it’s grand staircase and epic red carpets, you can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of grandeur in this place! Their ceremony was beautiful, heartfelt, and somehow quite intimate (even with a larger group of guests present).

One of my favourite moments was the confetti toss following the indoor ceremony. We took some “newlywed portraits” indoors while guests filtered outside for the confetti toss. This gave us time to get outside and have a beautiful moment with confetti everywhere!

London Wedding Transport

Shrey and Katie decided to rent a vintage double decker bus as their London wedding transport. Their guests were driven from Islington Town Hall to Coin Laundry in the bus. But not before we took some photos in front of it first! I love that the bus company customized it with their names, making it easy for guests to know which double decker bus to board!

Wedding Reception at Coin Laundry

Coin laundry has quickly become one of my favourite wedding venues in London! And it’s anything but a conventional or traditional venue. It dubs itself a “laidback neighbourhood bar serving seasonal foods and craft beers”. And that it is! Lucky for us, it can also be transformed into a non-traditional wedding venue, setting the stage for a beautiful celebration. Shrey and Katie gave so much thought to their wedding details and decor, and I think it shows in the photos! Needless to say, this was one of the best parties I’ve ever attended (scroll to the end for proof).

If you’re getting married at Islingston Town Hall, Coin Laundry, or anywhere else in London, get in touch! I’d love to help capture your wedding day.
