Madi and Tristan | An intimate in-home Chicago engagement session

I met Madi and Tristan on Instagram last year and we became fast friends! We arranged to do an in-home Chicago engagement session as I was passing through the area. I knew right away that they would be super cool because they drove 6 hours from Iowa to Chicago, all through the night, just for this session! We met up at the crack of dawn and headed straight for the famous Bean. Luckily, we beat the tourists and had the whole place to ourselves! -Just another reason why sunrise sessions are the best!

Chicago Engagement Session

After galavanting around the city + eating up the insanely beautiful morning light, we ventured inside for their in-home session. Their chemistry is insane and the love they have for each other is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Not only are they the sweetest couple ever, but they are also insanely talented wedding photographers themselves! If you get a chance, check out their beautiful work here.

I’m going to let Madi tell you about their story in her own words;

“Tristan and I met about 10 years ago. His dad moved to my town and started going to my parent’s church. I was best friends with his sister, but we both had boyfriends + girlfriends in high school, so we never talked. Finally, the end of my junior year in high school, we started hanging out and getting tacos and talking about life.. and that’s how we fell in love.

We actually went pretend ring shopping only like 6 or 7 months into us dating. We thought it was funny to trick the ring people into thinking we were adults. So when the time came to actually propose years later, he knew what I actually wanted. He proposed when it was just the two of us, after Christmas. We were at my grandparents house. He had me turn around saying he had a big gift for me, and then had me read a letter. It astounded me that he finally had the guts to ask me, and so I turned around crying, said YES of course! …and then we got pizza rolls to celebrate!”

So grab a pizza roll, scroll down + enjoy this beautiful in-home Chicago sunrise session!
