Brookstreet Hotel Wedding

Cristina and Ben | A luxurious Brookstreet Hotel Wedding

Cristina and Ben celebrated their wedding at the incredible Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, outside of Ottawa. It was a beautiful sunny day in the spring. Because of this, we had amazing weather to take all of the photos outdoors. I couldn’t imagine a better day for these two amazing humans.

Getting Ready

The day started off as any great wedding day does: nice and relaxed. Everyone was excited for the festivities to come, but no one was stressed out or anxious. This made for some beautiful documentary moments for both Ben and Cristina.

The Ceremony & McDonald's Pit Stop

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and heartfelt. The church where the ceremony took place had beautiful window light, casting a natural glow over all the guests.

Immediately after the ceremony, the wedding party travelled by limo towards the reception. Since so many people were ready for a mid-afternoon snack, we decided to stop at McDonald’s for a quick burger.

One of my favourite moments from the day was this pit-stop. Ben’s last name (which Cristina adopted after they got married) is McDonald. So stopping at McDonald’s for a post-ceremony snack was perfect!

Reception and Sunset Photos

Once we arrived back at Brookstreet Hotel for the evening portion of the wedding, we dove right into photos. We took both wedding party portraits and couples portraits on site, and utilised the nearby golf course.

At the reception, we had an incredible (and emotional!) evening of speeches, dinner, and dancing. One of my favourite aspects of their wedding day was their first dance. A recent trend in weddings is for couples to do their first dance immediately after their grand entrance. This flows naturally and takes the pressure off the first dance later in the evening.

I also really loved the food, especially the dessert! Since Cristina’s family is Italian, we had incredible cannolis for dessert, placed on a huge platter. They also included a mobile espresso bar to help keep people fuelled for a wild night of dancing! Once the dancing started, it was one of the liveliest I’ve ever witnessed.

  1. Okay, you had me at the first photo of the bridal party in front of McDonalds! Hotel weddings have a tendency to be difficult to shoot in but you 100% nailed these! Your tones combined with their color palette are spot on!
