JEFF + ANNE | SOUTHERN FRANCE

A beautiful + intimate French castle wedding

Jeff + Anne’s story is just about as romantic as you can get. Jeff is Canadian, and Anne is French. They met in Canada while Anne was an exchange student in Ottawa. Since Jeff’s father was Anne’s landlord, they ended up meeting. Fast forward almost a decade, and they decided to get married. They wanted to have an intimate French castle wedding in Anne’s family’s chatĂȘau in the south of France. I was so lucky to come along on their adventure and document their wedding day.

THE CASTLE

The story of the castle is actually quite incredible on its own. As Anne’s parents purchased an old castle in the south of France, they devoted their lives to restoring it as a retirement project. Their passion for renovations and restorations is truly inspiring, and it is shown in all of the little details in the chatĂȘau. They have restored the castle to a point where they can reside in it all year. Therefore, this made it an easy choice for Jeff + Anne to decide to get married there. The castle has so much meaning to their whole family, as Anne’s sister previously got married there, and the girls spent many of their teenage summers there as well.

THE WEDDING

The wedding itself was incredibly styled (although when your wedding venue is an actual castle, how could it not be?!). It was a beautiful sunny day. Anne’s mother picked fresh lavender from her garden to carefully craft Anne’s wedding bouquet by hand. Guests arrived wearing boutonnieres and fascinators, and the families (and wedding traditions) were beautifully blended from both France and Canada.

The meal was amazing, and guests indulged in many games and French wedding traditions. Jeff + Anne surprised everyone with a champagne tower to start the party off. The dance floor was banging until the sun came up (no exaggeration!). It was such an honour being able to capture this wedding, and I have SO much gratitude for both Jeff, Anne, and their families for being such amazing hosts and generous people.

What a lovely view for the ceremony. I wish my parents had renovated a castle (in France or anywhere else in Europe would be fine).
